Six No-Fail Tactics to Pivot Your Business With Immediate Results (And Long-Term Impact)
We are on the brink of a renaissance. Business will emerge from this moment with a seismic shift in how we work, interact, and grow. I don’t need to tell you that your response to this disruption will set the stage for the next generation of your business.
As a productivity and business transformation leader, I have led multiple large-scale change programs - setting up and overhauling offerings, models, processes, project portfolios, and teams across thousands of employees in 25+ countries. There are six no-fail principles that will swiftly transform your business from where you are now to where you want to be – and engage your employees along the way.

1) Kick start by uniting the executive team and committing them to engage their teams.
Every person in your company must be crystal clear on the pivot that you need to make and what success looks like. It needs to look and feel different than your status quo - presented front and center and communicated at every opportunity.
2) Build new specific and tangible outcomes and metrics into performance commitments.
Make it clear that this shift is your organization’s top priority right now, outlining SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results-oriented, and Timebound) across the business.
3) Reframe resources and energy with intent.
Leveraging Zero Based principles, reprioritize and reallocate resources without adding incremental costs or people. It is easy to debate priorities – all are important or you wouldn’t spend time on them. However, to move the needle, you need to decide how your priorities rank, and shift your team’s energy to those on top.
4) Hold yourself to account using tracking, measuring, and reporting routines.
Build progress tracking on your strategic, operational, and cultural goals immediately into your existing business performance discussions, to make the right decisions and interventions to keep things on track.
5) Pivot your performance management and reward system – straightaway.
Team leaders need to be measured and rewarded on delivering tangible outcomes that will shift your business fast, and employees need to understand what is in it for them.
6) Micro-actions go a long way.
As a leader, every interaction is an opportunity to advance your agenda. As impactful as the grand gestures are, the small, everyday micro-actions bring employees along, create momentum, shape culture, and lead to an exponential impact when sparked by managers across the business.
The bottom line is that if you build your pivot into the day-to-day fabric of your business, you will not only get results faster and positively engage your employees, but also make change more impactful and sustainable.
