Raise Her Voice: Untold Stories of Women in the Workplace
Ellevate Network is a platform for well-deserved, yet underrepresented voices.
Which is one of the reasons Ellevate created Raise Her Voice: Untold Stories of Women in the Workplace as a means to amplify the stories of others, to create space for shared reflection, and to spur action towards a world with equal access to opportunity.
The special initiative focuses on the personal stories of women+ within the Ellevate community in honor of International Women’s Day and National Women’s History Month.
Since 2019, the Raise Her Voice campaign has inspired over 1,000 women to nominate their friends, family, and colleagues so that their stories will be amplified. Over 10,000 people within the community voted on their favorite stories to be highlighted throughout the month of March, with approximately 300 women being selected to step into the spotlight and share their experiences.
In December, women and active allies were encouraged to nominate themselves, or another woman in their life, to share their remarkable and compelling stories of triumph, tribulation, and adventure with others in their local communities. Through January, the community voted on their favorite stories. Nominees with the most votes were asked to speak at a virtual Raise Her Voice story slam event later in the year.
Through Raise Her Voice, Ellevate provided the opportunity for women to tell their story at various virtual events in March of 2020 and 2021, hosted by an appointed team of local leaders from cities like Boston, Boulder, Charleston, Chicago, Denver, Dubai, Fairfield and Westchester Counties, Houston, Long Island, Los Angeles, Madrid, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, Twin Cities, and Washington D.C.
