I was so pleased to read the news the other day about Apple and Facebook providing for the future of women on their teams by helping defray the costs of freezing eggs. Many women are delaying childbirth in favor of establishing themselves in their career and ensuring financial stability, so this could be a welcome benefit for many. At the same time it got me wondering, what might Facebook, Apple, and other tech companies be doing to ensure their female employees actually remain part of their teams for the long term?Ultimately the cost to these organizations to assist with egg freezing is going to be minimal or even nothing if they aren’t able to create a culture where women can succeed.
