98% of Ellevate Members agree on who isn't solely responsible for closing the pay gap...
When asked who is responsible for closing the gender pay gap, 98% of members agreed that the responsibility shouldn't fall squarely on the shoulders of individuals to ask for a raise. In fact, 75% of members agreed that individuals, companies, and the government should each play a role in closing the pay gap.
Members commented that while women should (of course!) ask for a raise and be confident in the value they deliver, companies should recognize that men are more likely to negotiate and to receive a leg up from the many men in senior roles.
