Being Real About Your Career Story Will Help You Succeed

We talk a lot about the importance of a professional network, and for good reason. It’s been proven that your next career move will come from who you know, and Ellevate Chair Sallie Krawcheck swears by having a personal board of directors — people who you know you can turn to for quick advice, support, and feedback when you’re faced with the inevitable career obstacle.
But when you’re part of the world’s largest network for professional women, how do you find the specific kind of help you’re looking for? How do you make meaningful connections with women in your community who’ve been in your shoes(or who are currently in them with you)?
This year, Ellevate is really focusing on helping our members meet the right people. After lots of research and communication with our users, we learned that being transparent about your goals and your career story on your member profile is the best way to meet the right people — helping you reach your career goals, while offering your well earned expertise to those in the community who need support, too.
You can now update your member profile to better reflect what you’re hoping to accomplish. Be open about your career ups and downs by filling out your member bio, identifying areas of expertise, and choosing professional goals. All of these pieces come together to tell your career story, helping your make key connections to the women who have been there and made it through to the other side.
A genuine (and complete!) member profile is a big part of finding support, advice, and success (whatever that looks like for you). Get started by updating yours now.
