Bellydance is a an expressive art form that originated in the Middle East. It has two distinct social context. One form is social dance and the other - more popular - is performance. It is often also referred to as oriental dance or “Raqs Sharqi”.
Discover the timeless beauty and joy of this organic dance. Ellevate members will learn basic technique including lifted stance and posture, shimmies, isolations, undulations and traveling steps. Class will include a brief introduction to the history, context and philosophy of belly dance. Join us for an afternoon of networking and celebrate femininity through a sensual, life-embracing art.
Feel free to dress comfortably for this event. Workout gear is fine. The studio has a no street shoes policy as bellydance is done barefoot. You are welcome to wear indoor shoes or dance shoes that do not mark floors.
No prior dance experience necessary.
Refreshments will be served
