Companies and organizations cannot do their best work if they are not doing the work of diversity, equity and inclusion. But how do we make sure it’s not just lip service? How do we make sure that talk turns into action? How do we make sure that our good intentions translate into actual results?
In this two part interactive workshop, Alethea Cheng Fitzpatrick, Founder and Principal of Co-Creating Inclusion, will take us through a series of exercises that will make more visible the systems of oppression that are designed to be invisible, especially to those they privilege. Thus we will identify the most impactful next steps you can take to dismantle those systems and instead co-create inclusion for yourself and others in your work and in your life.
We will be intersectional. We will be radical. And we will be practical. We will also be unapologetically anti-racist. Expect to be seen and valued, challenged and supported as we speak for our own healing while centering on those most harmed, excluded and marginalized - to the detriment of all of us - in our workplaces and communities.
This workshop is for women of all backgrounds - race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, mental and physical ability, religion, immigration status, family status, socio-economic status education, industry, role, professional experience, and experience with diversity, equity, and inclusion. All you need to bring is a willingness to engage and self-reflect.
What do we mean by terms like diversity, equity, inclusion and intersectionality anyway? How do they align with your values, and what do they mean for you in your work and your life? What are the celebrations and opportunities for growth? Come away with a framework for evaluating areas of priority so you can focus on where you can be most impactful as well as most energized.
How do bias and oppression show up in your workplace and organization? How can they be counteracted in order to work towards diversity, equity, and the co-creation of inclusion so that we can ALL do our best work and live our most fulfilling and joyful lives? Come away with behaviors, practices and actionable next steps to create real and tangible change.
Can't attend both sessions? Don't worry! Attend one and we'll share the lessons learned with you!
