Virtual Book Club: Hood Feminism (Part 2) [Seattle Chapter]

Online • Seattle | Bellevue | Puget Sound • October 21, 2020

Join us for an engaging and supportive conversation on Hood Feminism.

Wednesday, October 21, 2020 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM PDT

As an inclusive community of women supporting each other, we hope to provide a forum where everybody has a platform to engage in courageous conversations, share resources, respect individual’s intersectional experience, and work with one another to be a true ally and advocate for equality.

This fall, we continue to explore racial injustice in our workspaces and communities, and how we can be allies.

We will read, over the course of September through November:

Hood Feminism: Notes from the Women That a Movement Forgot (Mikki Kendall, 2020)

We know folks may not have time to read the book, especially for our first conversation, so we suggest the following short audio:

https://www.npr.org/2020/05/05/850963562/what-does-hood-feminism-mean-for-a-pandemic

The Reading Plan is about ~80 pages per month:

September: read through page 84, aka through the chapter It’s Raining Patriarchy

October: read through page 172, aka through the chapter Fear & Feminism

November: read through the end of the book
