The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others have recently reignited the conversation around systemic racism and police brutality in America. For those in the Black community, this conversation is nothing new. We are constantly faced with the realities of these issues on a daily basis, atop of the rest of the noise of every day life.
But keeping these conversations alive, despite the noise, is how we move forward. Supporting each other in these conversations is how we heal. Ellevate will continue to hold space for the Black women in our community to do so.
At this special Holding Space event, we invite allies of the Black community to hear from the Black women of the Ellevate community. It is our hope that allies can discuss ways to wield privilege for good and effectively discuss the roles they play in solidarity when there are only non-Black faces in the room.
