There are a lot of ways to define and express leadership. This month, let’s mine the wisdom of podcasts for current lessons, leaders who inspire us, and ways of showing up as an inclusive leader who builds true belonging and uplifts individuals across a range of diversity.
Join Ellevate LA’s monthly PODCAST discussion to share what you’ve been hearing with people who are listening for ideas on the same topic. An intimate way to network with people who may be on a similar journey or have similar interests.
Particularly during this past year, many podcasts devoted episodes to exploring diversity, inclusion, and fostering a culture of belonging for all. Look through the archives of your favorite podcast to see how they have talked about uplifting diversity.
Not sure where to start with podcasts? Here are a few specific podcast episodes:
- Dr. Evelyn Hooker, whose interview is shared on this episode of the Making Gay History podcast, “rocked the [psychology] profession by demonstrating that gay men were just as sane as straight men.” And in doing so, challenged the dominant narrative around LGBTQ+.
- Vernice Armour was interviewed on the What’s Her Story with Sam and Amy podcast, sharing her experience as America’s first African-American female aviator in the Marine Corps and the first African-American female combat pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Dr. Jennifer Eberhardt, author of Biased, shares her findings on the Next Big Idea podcast.
