Work Like a Boss: Convos and Cocktails with Nancy Lyons

Online

Join us for a (virtual) signature cocktail lesson and a chat with author Nancy Lyons, giving us some kick-in-the-pants advice on showing up as a Boss, no matter your title.

Mon, Jan 25, 2021 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM CST

We're excited to host a virtual cocktail and conversation with author Nancy Lyons, Author of Work Like a Boss: A Kick-in-the-Pants Guide to Finding (and Using) Your Power at Work. And we're spicing things up a bit with a virtual signature cocktail lesson, followed by a chat with Nancy and some good old fashioned networking.

Our event partner, Royal Foundry Craft Spirits, will be designing a signature cocktail for the occasion - and leading us through a quick mixology lesson at the start of the event. Watch this space for an ingredients list (SEE BELOW) so that you can mix along at home.

We also encourage you to check out the book before the event, and come with your questions for Nancy!

More about Work Like a Boss:

Real power doesn’t come with a title, a promotion, or managing a team. It comes from a sense of ownership and accountability that you can bring to the office every day.

In “Work Like a Boss," Nancy shares lessons learned through personal experience (and experiments) and what she has observed in her twenty-five years of business leadership. With her decades of skill in developing award-winning people-centered work cultures, Nancy gives you tough-love advice on things you've long forgotten are essential at work:

  • Identifying and using better mindsets and practices
  • Bringing your best self even when it’s difficult
  • Overcoming your bad communication habits
  • Owning your sh*t
  • And more!

Our signature cocktail will be a take on a classic Bee's Knees. Here's what you need if you are mixing along at home...

  • Royal Foundry Marlow Rows Gin (if this isn't available in your market or you want to use what you have - something like Bombay Saphire has a similar flavor profile)
  • 2 Oranges
  • 1 Lemon or Lemon Juice
  • 1 Cup of Honey
  • Soda Water
  • 14oz Collins Glass (any 14oz glass will work)
  • Ice
  • Long spoon
  • Shaker if available

Prior to the class, the syrup will need to be made - or, you can sub in a simple syrup purchased from your local liquor store.  If you are making it at home, Zest 1 whole orange and set to the side. Then juice the orange into a saucepan and add the cup of honey. Bring the saucepan to the boil stirring constantly, once the orange juice has been fully incorporated. Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest. Let cool before the class. (This can be made a few days before if need be).
