Mobilize Women: Fighting the She-cession
1 hour & 30 minutes
Online • Closed Captioned •
About 865,000 women dropped out of the workforce in September 2020. Jobs lost by women accounted for 100% of the 140,000 net jobs that disappeared from the US economy in December of 2020. Globally, women’s job losses due to COVID-19 are 1.8 times greater than men’s.
The downward turn women’s place in the economy has contributed to what many are calling a she-cession. The world, sharing the major event that is the pandemic, has had a huge impact on the careers, employment, and wages of women specifically. As we navigate what is hopefully the tail-end of the pandemic, much is left up in the air about our futures and the working world we’re returning to.
Join Ellevate and a panel of speakers as they talk about that future. These workforce leaders, career coaches, economy experts, working mothers will discuss:
- The state of the economy with women leaving the workforce
- Navigating working motherhood in the pandemic
- Additional and compounded challenges women of color face in the she-cession
- The new, hopeful future for women and the economy at the pandemic’s end
