Holding Space: An Anti-Racism Community Circle (Mobilize Women Week)

Join us for a safe, impactful community circle for Black women and allies of the Black community as we discuss wielding privilege for good and effectively talking about allyship with non-Black peers.

Fri, Jun 25, 2021 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT

The deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others have recently reignited the conversation around systemic racism and police brutality in America. For those in the Black community, this conversation is nothing new. We are constantly faced with the realities of these issues on a daily basis, atop of the rest of the noise of everyday life.

But keeping these conversations alive, despite the noise, is how we move forward. Supporting each other in these conversations is how we heal. Ellevate will continue to hold space for the Black women in our community to do so.

Attending Black Women:

Ellevate Network invites the Black women of our community to come together and discuss the issues that we face and to provide each other with support. The handpicked Black community and thought leaders will facilitate small group discussions about any and everything that affects our lives in today's climate.

Attending Allies:

At this special Holding Space event, we invite allies of the Black community to hear from the Black women of the Ellevate community and other anti-racist experts. It is our hope that allies can discuss ways to wield privilege for good and effectively discuss the roles they play in solidarity when there are only non-Black faces in the room.

This past year, there’s been a spotlight on the many flaws within our society.

While it’s no secret that the world has never been fair, the pandemic showed how broken our healthcare, economic and justice systems really are.

It’s time to re-evaluate priorities, re-imagine and re-build a new equitable world.

At Mobilize Women Week, your perspectives will be challenged at one of our daily feature sessions. At Roundtables, Mentoring Meetups, and Workshops throughout the week, you’ll find a safe space to process what you heard among your peers in at least one of our five programs.

We deserve a better world, and we can make it a reality - together.
