How do you harness your power?
Join us as internationally-acclaimed community organizer, first-degree black belt, public speaker, and social entrepreneur Rana Abdelhamid leads us through an interactive self-defense demonstration.
After, she’ll sit down for a fireside chat about her life and power: the power we can harness over our bodies, the power of our collective communities, and the power of organizing a movement.
More on our Speaker for Morning Motivation: Self-Defense Class & Conversation
Rana Abdelhamid, Activist, founder of Hijabis of New York and the Women's Initiative for Self Empowerment, founded her nonprofit, Malikah, after being attacked when she was 16 for wearing a hijab. Malikah started as a way for Rana, a black belt in karate, to teach self-defense to women in her neighborhood. Rana found her voice and power, and Malikah grew to an international grassroots network creating safety, power, and solidarity for women. Rana is currently running as a Democratic candidate for Congress, backed by Justice Democrats, the group that recruited Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush.

While it’s no secret that the world has never been fair, the pandemic showed how broken our healthcare, economic and justice systems really are.
It’s time to re-evaluate priorities, re-imagine and re-build a new equitable world.
At Mobilize Women Week, your perspectives will be challenged at one of our daily feature sessions. At Roundtables, Mentoring Meetups, and Workshops throughout the week, you’ll find a safe space to process what you heard among your peers in at least one of our five programs.
