Fully enjoy the great monsoon weather and the greenery and fresh air that comes with it by joining us on a hike to the picturesque Sagargad, also known as Khed Durg, near Alibag.
We approach Sagargad from a small village called Khandale. From Khandale, we walk up the hill on a clear path with rough steps hewn into it at places, after about an hour’s walk, this leads to a hamlet of Adivasis. The real walk begins here. The vertical is over at the hamlet itself but there is a large expanse of windswept green to explore now. The terrain assumes a strange look with rocks scattered around as if someone has spilled beans. The walk takes some turns along the ridge & valleys soon show up. The fort remains are obvious as the final pitch is a walk up the citadel. We come above the citadel into some open grassland again. The view opens up in front of us like magic – the pinnacle sports a flag beyond whose flutter is visible the sea, a faint line of surf easily visible below.
Wear comfortable wettable footwear with good treads, bring along some raingear and a hat.
Meet at 6 am outside Bandra Station (W), opposite Hotel Sai Shraddha
Cost: Rs. 1250 which includes transportation to the hike starting point and back plus breakfast and lunch
