You are invited to attend the 85 Broads
CT Power Circle Luncheon
featuring Amy Jurkowitz & Pam Caffray of Milkshake.
Join us for lunch in Stamford, CT with the founders of Milkshake and find out why Amy and Pam decided to launch their company and their journey to date as entrepreneurs. Our luncheon host is Joanie Stringer, Power Circle member and senior executive, Northern Trust Company.
Milkshake is a daily edition of good finds that give back. Through its hallmark daily email and growing online communities, Milkshake invites readers to discover products, people, causes and companies that are making a difference, then inspires them to take action. Read about a chic watch made of recycled wood then click to buy and support a tree-planting initiative; learn about an organization that is selling gum and mints to fund the education of children in Africa; or find a way to make your next deluxe vacation matter by spending a day volunteering to protect the Leatherback turtle hatchlings in Australia from extinction. Presented in compact, upbeat editorial tidbits, Milkshake is making it easy (and fun!) to be a part of all that’s good.
firstname.lastname@example.org Seating is limited to 20 attendees. Power Circle members given priority.
Amy Jurkowitz, Co-Founder
Amy is an entrepreneur at heart. A marketing expert with a keen eye for design, she has worked in many capacities over the past 25 years, always with an eye to building brands and businesses.
Amy has worked in large traditional packaged good companies: Unilever, Sara Lee, Nabisco and RJR Reynolds, as well as small service oriented companies including Ohlmeyer Communications. Her entrepreneurial pursuits have included co-founding a line of fashion-inspired active wear for women: MATERIAL; and via her marketing and communication agency, JURKOWITZ & Co, she has worked on licensing and product category development for Field & Stream; real estate and hotel brand development for Starwood Capital Group and more. It was through her company Amy met Pam. When the two met, Amy immediately saw great opportunity on every level of Pam’s idea…a partnership was created and Milkshake was launched.
Amy graduated with a BA from Colgate University and an MBA from Northwestern’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management. In her spare time she runs around with her five kids ages 12 to 16; sits on the board of trustees of Greenwich Country Day School; advises Ashoka, a foundation with a focus on social entrepreneurship; judges undergraduate entrepreneurship contests; and runs road races whenever she can.
Pam Caffray, Co-Founder
An arbiter of style with a conscience who is always ahead of the trend, Pam leads Milkshake’s editorial team as they discover and curate good finds that give back.
For Pam, Milkshake is the logical culmination of a career spent as a trend forecaster, PR and advertising exec, writer and producer. For years, her friends and colleagues at Condé Nast, Nigel French, LTD and beyond have looked to her for the latest and greatest products, ideas and trends. Since giving back has always been central to Pam’s lifestyle, more often than not she recommends products with a philanthropic bent. As more and more people, causes and companies started developing ways for consumers to do good and give back as part of their lifestyle, Pam saw an opportunity and the idea for Milkshake was born.
Beyond days spent canvassing the world to deliver good finds to readers, Pam is actively involved in charity work, specifically causes that benefit education and children. She sits on the board of Family Centers in Greenwich (CT), and spends her free time on active pursuits including skiing, running, squash (and shopping!). Pam has her BS from the University of Vermont and has a son, Spencer who attends the College of Charleston and is a budding entrepreneur.
