According to The Global Media Monitoring Project 2010, “76% of persons making news, or in the news, are male.”
In response, NewsCertified Exchange (NCE), together with 85 Broads New York Chapter and Orrick, will be hosting a day of interactive workshops and a luncheon panel discussion with some of the most influential female executive minds in media, communications, and business. The purpose of this event is to create a networking opportunity and to provide the skills and resources necessary to enable executive women to influence the media.
The event consists of a formal panel lunch hosted by Orrick and two executive media workshops. Registration is limited to 100 participants.
Jane Bornemier – Senior Editor at The New York Times and Managing Director of New York Times Radio
Renée Edelman – Senior Vice President of Edelman Mia Haugen – Managing Editor of Forbes
Femi Oke – Senior Editor and Correspondent at “The Takeaway”
Katie Orenstein – Founder and Director of the OpEd Project
Kelli Arena – Moderator – Vice President of NewsCertified Exchange and recipient of the Dan Rather Chair of Journalism at Sam Houston State University
Founded by network broadcast journalists (like 85 Broads member Kathyrn McManus), NCE has worked with over 400 organizations to executive train and position their leaders on NewsCertified.com. NCE’s “interview-ready” experts are used daily in the news. Journalists from over 250 of the world’s major news outlets have accounts with NewsCertified.com. In November 2010, journalists from more than 30 countries used the NCE database to find sources.
NCE is offering introductory and advanced executive training workshops. These sessions will provide the foundational media skills, technology, and platform to position participants as credible interview-ready experts. Participants will attend one workshop, depending on their level of media experience.
Influencing the Headlines – Led by Jerry Krieg, co-founder of NCE, with 20+ years of executive production experience at CNN. This workshop is for participants who have never been media trained and have little interview experience.
Influencing the Headlines Advanced – Led by Kelli Arena, VP of NCE and former correspondent for CNN and Bloomberg TV. This workshop is for participants who have been media trained and/or are comfortable with print, radio, and television interviews.
After completing the seminar, the package includes the creation of an NCE multimedia profile page and a three-year membership on NewsCertified.com.
Each participant will be given an HD remote broadcast camera and will have two months to schedule a one-hour remote session with an NCE broadcast journalist. The remote session allows participants to practice their media interviewing skills and record an interview that will be used on their NCE multimedia profile page.
(NCE profile pages have exclusive, built-in technology that provides experts with the ability to update their content so they can stay relevant in the news cycle, providing a powerful 24/7 global marketing presence.)
Influencing the Headlines: Schedule and Pricing:
