She Reads to Rise: A Women’s Growth Book Club

A monthly virtual book club hosted by Ellevate Dubai Leadership, in collaboration with Laura G Patac.

Step into a space designed for real conversation, reflection, and growth. Each month, we’ll explore a powerful book and unpack its stories, lessons, and practical takeaways with a community of women who show up ready to think, learn, and rise together.

What makes this different:

• We read for insight, not speed

• We explore storytelling through lived experience, literature, and culture

• Some months include live conversations with the authors

• Every session delivers micro learning, discussion, and shared growth

Purpose of the series:

To create a reflective and empowering space where women use reading and storytelling as a pathway to personal and professional growth. Through books and shared stories, participants expand their identity, confidence, leadership, and sense of community.

What you’ll walk away with:

• Practical tools including reflection frameworks, reading prompts, identity questions

• New perspectives from experts and authors

• A deeper connection with yourself and other women

• Confidence and momentum to move your growth forward

This month’s book: Women Who Run With Wolves

Within every woman there lives a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing. She is the Wild Woman, who represents the instinctual nature of women. But she is an endangered species. For though the gifts of wildish nature belong to us at birth, society’s attempt to “civilize” us into rigid roles has muffled the deep, life-giving messages of our own souls.

In Women Who Run with the Wolves, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés unfolds rich intercultural myths, fairy tales, folk tales, and stories, many from her own traditions, in order to help women reconnect with the fierce, healthy, visionary attributes of this instinctual nature. Through the stories and commentaries in this remarkable book, we retrieve, examine, love, and understand the Wild Woman, and hold her against our deep psyches as one who is both magic and medicine.

Dr. Estés has created a new lexicon for describing the female psyche. Fertile and life-giving, it is a psychology of women in the truest sense, a knowing of the soul.

About the Author

Clarissa Pinkola Estés is an American poet, psychoanalyst and post-trauma specialist who was raised in now nearly vanished oral and ethnic traditions. She is a first-generation American who grew up in a rural village, population 600, near the Great Lakes. Of Mexican mestiza and majority Magyar and minority Swabian tribal heritages, she comes from immigrant and refugee families who could not read or write, or who did so haltingly. Much of her writing is influenced by her family people who were farmers, shepherds, hopsmeisters, wheelwrights, weavers, orchardists, tailors, cabinet makers, lacemakers, knitters, and horsemen and horsewomen from the Old Countries.
