The Association of Professional Insurance Women, Inc. (APIW) and the National Association of Insurance Women, Inc.
(NAIW) are pleased to announce the second annual Women’s Leadership Forum, a gathering of members from APIW, NAIW,
85 Broads, the Financial Women’s Association (FWA), and the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL). This program
will feature Joanna Barsh, Director of the New York Office of McKinsey and co-author of Centered Leadership: How Talented
Women Thrive. Ms. Barsh will provide a new approach to how leadership can help women become more self-confident and
effective business leaders.

Ms. Barsh is a strong advocate for women at McKinsey and beyond. In 2002, she was appointed to the New York City
Commission on Women’s Issues by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. She also created “Living Portraits,” a digital
video archive of her interviews with women leaders from around the world. Additionally, she began the McKinsey
Leadership Project, an initiative to provide guidance and inspiration to young women with business leadership aspirations.
She is the recipient of the Girl Scouts Council Woman of Distinction Award, the National Council for Research on Women
Achievement Award, and the New York Women’s Agenda STAR Award.

Ms. Barsh serves as the leader of McKinsey’s Private Equity, Consumer, and Retail Practices. Her client experience spans
mergers and acquisitions, development of corporate growth strategy, and performance and operations transformation. She
also spearheads McKinsey’s Innovation Practice and directed the launch of the “Management Innovation Lab,” a program
to radically accelerate the evolution of management knowledge and performance.

Ms. Barsh is a summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in English literature.
She also holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. with distinction from Harvard
Business School, where she was a Baker Scholar.

This event in the Women’s Leadership Forum is being held in recognition of Women’s History Month and is a gathering of
a group of organizations dedicated to the advancement of women in the corporate arena, including those in insurance,
finance, and the law. The goal of the Forum is to host a program at least once a year that identifies and addresses issues
faced by women seeking achievement and advancement in their profession.
