Charities are a mainstay of civil society in the UK and deliver a huge range of services in areas including health, the arts, education and social justice. There are over 150,000 charities registered with the Charity Commission with combined incomes of over £50 billion and net assets of over £120 billion. This diversity means there is an enormous range of board roles available – and 50% of charities have an unfilled trustee position at any time.

This event is designed to raise awareness of the variety of charity board roles available, to discuss the skills and experience needed on these types of boards and to provide advice on finding a role that is right for you. The event’s three speakers will bring a huge breadth and depth of experience of the sector and their stories will inspire you to find your own niche as a charity trustee. Even if your main interest is in paid board roles in other sectors, the personal satisfaction of contributing your skills and wisdom to a not-for-profit cause that resonates with you is something we would encourage you to consider.
