About Back on the Career Track
Back on the Career Track: A Guide for Stay-At-Home Moms Who Want to Return to Work (Warner Books, June 2007) is a comprehensive, inspiring, step-by-step guide offering strategy and advice for mothers who want to return to the workforce after time at home. Both graduates of Harvard Business School, authors Cohen, a mother of four, and Rabin, a mother of five, have experienced personally the challenges of building a career, taking time off to be home with children, and then getting “back on the career track” Based on their own experience, as well as on interviews with over 100 women who relaunched their careers in a variety of fields, and supplemented by input from career counselors, employers, recruiters and husbands, Back on the Career Track lays out a 7-step plan for achieving relaunch success. The book specifically addresses how to find both fulltime positions and meaningful part-time, flexible or entrepreneurial opportunities. The second part of the book features in-depth interviews with inspirational relaunchers, such as retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (who spent 5 years at home), an overview of the “Relaunch Movement” and a look at what cutting edge employers are doing to recruit and reintegrate talented women from the stay-at-home pool. Back on the Career Track also includes sample resumes and a Resource section. For more information, please visit www.backonthecareertrack.com.
