85 Broads Hong Kong Chapter invites you to a conversation with Christine Bader, Advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Business and Human Rights. Christine will give an update on the global debate over standards of corporate responsibility with respect to human rights — including the impact of the recent financial scandals and crisis on that debate, from Madoff’s Ponzi scheme to the Great Recession. She will also share her first-hand experience in Asia, where she managed human rights issues for two of BP’s (formerly British Petroleum) largest projects.
Christine is an expert in how business and human rights intersect, one of the few people in the world who has worked on the issue both on the front lines and at the global policy level. Christine has published articles on business and human rights in BusinessWeek.com, China Rights Forum, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and presented at boardrooms, conferences, and universities around the world. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Kenan Institute for Ethics at Duke University and a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She has a B.A. from Amherst College and an M.B.A. from Yale University.
