These days, it’s not unusual for non-profits to feel like they’ve been kicked in the proverbial butt. But believe it or not, that may turn out to be a good thing. Why? Because many of them have lost too much time skirting the edges of the social media universe, while their current and prospective supporters have taken up residence smack dab in the middle of it.
Social media technologies have enabled people to coalesce into countless communities defined by shared interests instead of common geography. And make no mistake, the people populating these communities aren’t passive media consumers. They’re active participants in a global conversation who prefer to be spoken “with,” not “at.” Here’s the good news: If you can develop the right strategy of engagement, they’ll welcome conversation with you. And here’s the better news: While social media isn’t without cost, it’s dramatically less expensive to implement than traditional marketing and, in many ways, more effective.
This Jam Session will explore:
• Using social media to increase awareness, expand supporter base, and drive donations
• Evaluating and choosing social media channels
• The difference between using social media, and using it effectively
• The importance of tightly integrating social media initiatives into your offline strategy and operations

Once we approve your registration, you will receive a confirmation email message with instructions on how to join the event on December 2nd.
This online event is FREE for all subscribing 85 Broads members.
Participants can be located anywhere in the world. To fully participate in this online event, you will need a high-speed internet connection, a computer, and computer speakers/headset to listen in.
About Linda Ziskind:
85 Broads member Linda Ziskind has over 20 years experience in helping organizations communicate with clarity, impact, and effectiveness. Since 2003 she has been Principal of Z2 Consulting, working closely with a cohort of talented web and print designers, programmers, and writers, who collectively deliver a full spectrum of social media solutions, marketing communications, and creative and technology services. For the past several years, Linda’s work has focused on developing marketing and social media strategies for not-for-profit organizations.
Prior to starting Z2 Consulting, Linda was a Global Director of Marketing Communications and Brand at Dimension Data, an IT services company. Before joining Dimension Data, Linda served as a Creative Director/Executive Producer at America Online. She has also held vice president positions at BBDO, Grey Advertising, and Grey Interactive.
Linda has had a long history of board service for non-profit arts organizations and currently does pro-bono marketing work for The Spencertown Academy for the Arts in Spencertown, N.Y.
