“CAN SOCIAL VENTURE CAPITAL SOLVE GLOBAL POVERTY?”
- An 85 Broads London ACTION DINNER with the Acumen Fund -
More than 1.2bn people around the globe today live on less than $1.25 a day and have little or no access to affordable water, housing, healthcare or energy. That’s less than what most of us carry around in spare change each day.
- Can the social venture capital model be effective in solving the problems of global poverty?
In our continuing ACTION DINNER Series featuring individuals and organisations focused on social impact around the world, 85 Broads London invites you to join us for an evening with Acumen Fund.
RSVP: email@example.com – MEMBERS ONLY – 20 spots available
Fee: £40 [to cover 2-course meal and drink costs]
Founded in 2001 by 85 Broads member Jacqueline Novogratz, the Acumen Fund has become one of the best regarded global non-profit venture funds. It raises $15+ million each year in investment capital from leading foundations including The Gates Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and Google.org, and has the support of individual partners around the world.
Using “Patient Capital”, Acumen Fund focuses on backing entrepreneurs with the mission of creating financially self-sustaining social enterprises, yielding both financial and social returns in solving the problems of poverty across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
