85 Broads Arizona, Inspired, Empowered & Connected World Wide, invites you to the inaugural event of our Amazing Women Speaker Luncheons. This series will bring you stories of trailblazing Arizona-connected women whose passions have resulted in profound, world-changing results.
On October 30th, 2013, meet Suzanne Fallender, Director, Global Girls & Women Initiative, Intel Corporation, who will share her story about how educating girls is changing the world.
66 million girls are not in school around the world; and 33 million fewer girls are in school than boys. Once thought of as only the purview of government, new partnerships are being formed between companies, non-profits, educators and development agencies to come together to address this issue. In this session, Suzanne Fallender will discuss how Intel got involved in this important topic and why the company believes that investing in girls’ education is one of the best investments that can be made today to drive both social and economic impact.
About Our Speaker: Suzanne has more than 16 years of experience in the fields of corporate responsibility and corporate governance. Suzanne is currently Director of Intel’s Global Girls and Women Initiative, which includes a set of strategic programs, partnerships, and policy engagements designed to empower millions of girls and women around the world through education and technology. This includes Intel’s partnership on the Girl Rising film and social action campaign which highlights the critical importance of investing in educating girls to advance economic opportunity. Suzanne also leads Intel’s strategy around the concept of creating shared value, including engaging in research and partnerships to identify new opportunities to create both business value and social impact.
Prior to her current role, Suzanne spent six years leading Intel’s engagement with socially responsible investors and approach to CSR reporting, including publication of Intel’s annual CSR report. She also worked with business groups across the company to integrate CSR strategic planning, policies, external and internal communications, and employee engagement activities. Previously, Suzanne served as Vice President at Institutional Shareholder Services where she managed the firm’s socially responsible investing division. Outside Intel, Suzanne is a member of the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship’s Executive Forum and Net Impact’s Corporate Advisory Council, and serves on the boards of directors of the Tempe Community Council and Arizona Businesses Advancing Sustainability. Suzanne holds an M.B.A. from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and a B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
