India Inc. - Preparing women for board memberships

On behalf of the Mumbai chapter of the global women's network Ellevate (formerly 85 Broads) https://www.ellevatenetwork.com/, we are delighted to invite you to attend the panel "India Inc - Preparing women for board memberships." The panel will be moderated by Aparna Piramal – Columnist for Mint, a company director and an independent board member. The panel will include Niloufer Lam - Partner at Amarchand Mangaldas, Bhavna Thakur - Partner at Shadoka LLC and Amit Raje – Executive Director at Goldman Sachs private equity group and an independent board member for investee companies.

The new Companies Act requires every public company in India, with a minimum paid-up share capital of Rs 100 crore or an annual turnover of at least Rs 300 crore, to appoint at least one woman Director to their Board. Studies have shown that more women in leadership lead to better earnings and overall company growth. In light of recent conversation on this topic, we are keen to discuss what companies are doing/should be doing to prepare women for board roles and how companies will benefit. The board memberships panel will also cover proactive measures companies can take on work-life balance initiatives in order to encourage women leadership.
