Featuring Authors and Test-Prep Specialists: Erica Meltzer and Mike McClenathan
For most high school students, the PSAT is the first step in the college admissions process—but where do you go from there? And how, as a parent, do you sort through the often-conflicting advice from teachers, guidance counselors, friends, neighbors, and relatives? Can well-intentioned and seemingly reasonable advice actually lead you astray? Are all SAT prep resources created equal? This presentation will address some of the most common questions surrounding the test-prep process, including:
What does the SAT actually test? What does the ACT actually test?
How do you set realistic goals and create an effective study plan?
What is the best method of preparation: tutor, class, or self-study?
How will the SAT change in 2016, and what can you do to prepare?
Erica and Mike look forward to answering your questions, as well. Please include any top-of-mind questions that you would like addressed in your RSVP e-mail.

Published AuthorMike McClenathan attended Brown University, where he studied psychology and philosophy. After college he moved to New York City, and a series of unlikely events led him to the high stakes world of SAT preparation. As a part of his initiation into the industry, Mike took the SAT in 2007 and scored 2400. He has been honing his craft ever since. In 2011, dismayed by the high cost of quality test prep, Mike created PWNtheSAT.com, a free website on which he posts drills, explains concepts and techniques, and operates a free question-and-answer service. He has also authored two popular books: PWN the SAT: Math Guide, and PWN the SAT: Essay Guide. He donates 10% of the royalties he receives from book sales to classrooms in need via DonorsChoose.org.
