Join as three, thriving female entrepreneurs share their stories and their journeys launching businesses that make fashion a more sustainable industry. Did you know that 20% of your wardrobe gets 80% of the wears? Are you not wearing it because it's stained (The Laundress has the answer) or because it was the wrong buy (Material Wrld helps you cash in on your wardrobe). See you on October 13, from 7-9 pm to learn how to 'Buy Well and Make it Last" (quote from Vivienne Westwood).

Schedule:

7:00 - doors open

7:15-8:30 - Panel Discussion between Rie Yano (Material Wrld) and Gwen Whiting and Lindsey Boyd (The Laundress)

8:30-9:00 - Conversation and networking

FEATURING:

Rie Yano, co-founder Material Wrld: MATERIAL WRLD is the leading luxury fashion trade-in service. Upgrading your closet has never been so easy, fast and guilt-free. Women send designer fashions they no longer wear to shop new at 900+ retail locations nationwide such as Bloomingdale's, Barneys and Intermix with the Material Wrld Fashion Trade-In Card, a reloadable prepaid debit card powered by Discover. All items find a new home through resale channels where they will be re-worn with love or are donated to charity partner Housing Works. Material WRLD believes in sustainable consumption and reward each choice made to extend the fashion lifecycle and keep quality fashions out of the landfill. Founded in 2012 by two fashion e-commerce experts and Harvard Business School graduates with experience from top brands including Coach, Ralph Lauren and J.Crew, Material Wrld has been featured in numerous publications such as the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, ABC News, NBC, Fox News, TechCrunch and Women’s Wear Daily.

Lindsey Boyd and Gwen Whiting, co-founders The Laundress. The Laundress was founded in 2004 because Gwen and Lindsey were frustrated with dingy white T-shirts, faded denim, and prematurely worn pieces. The laundry products available in the marketplace left them unsatisfied and the only alternative, dry cleaning, left clothes loaded with chemicals. Knowing wardrobes were washable, they decided to research and develop their own laundry solutions—literally! With their carefully crafted Laundress products, washing clothing became a delight, made even more enjoyable with fantastic tools and storage options. However, they faced similar frustrations cleaning their homes and office. Unwilling to use toxic cleaners and fed up with inferior natural cleaning products, they decided it was time to, again, make their own. From dish detergent to window cleaner, the Home collection has proven tough on dirt yet safe for you, your home, and the environment. The Laundress products are made with plant derived, non- toxic, and biodegradable ingredients. Each laundry, fabric care and home cleaning product is custom designed for the specific fabric or surface, pairing the most effective ingredients with our favorite scents.
