Fifty-percent of attackers will break off an attack if their intended victim shows resistance. Heather Hamel wants to increase those odds even more by teaching women how to resist effectively.

Moxie Up creator Heather Hamel will discuss and demonstrate tools women can use to reduce the odds of becoming a victim. Her program strives to empower women to educate and fortify themselves against abuse.
Heather Hamel is on a mission to help women to not become victims. She founded Moxie Up in 2013 with the goal of teaching 1,000 women. She is nearing her goal, but will continue to teach another 1,000 as long as she can. She is a 4th degree black belt and is the only Arizona female member of the USKA Hall of Fame. She is also a member of the prestigious Bushido Society (the only one from Arizona, and one of only three females in the US). Heather still regularly competes and hosts competitions for young students who are growing in martial arts.
Women can do something to protect themselves, they just need the right training. -Heather Hamel, Founder of Moxie Up
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
A portion of enrollment fees will go to Operation Welcome Home for military veterans.
