Find Your Voice: Speaking Without Apology

Join us on this Jam Session with Mmarisa Santoro, where you will master your mindset on how you see yourself first and upgrade your communication style immediately.

Tue, May 23, 2017 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EDT

Did you know that your dialogue and internal self-talk impacts how you are perceived, and is affecting your confidence levels? Join us on this Jam Session with marisa Santoro, where you will master your mindset on how you see yourself first and upgrade your communication style immediately. You will:

  • Learn to recognize ways in which you can detach from language which feeds into the “Sorry Syndrome” – apologetic words that imply inadequacy rather than exemplifying strength,
  • Learn how subtle tweaks in your speech can springboard you from diluting your value to spotlighting your assets,
  • Receive guidance on how to speak with confidence, intention and clarity, positively influencing how others respond to you,
  • and more.

Marisa Santoro is the Founder of and The Gutsy Leadership Academy, an online business school consisting of self-paced training courses and live coaching. Marisa is a recent winner of the “Women of Influence” award by New York Business Journals and national columnist for American Business Journals. Delivering an authentic professional training program and toolkit, gutsy leadership education is based on taking action driven primarily by your intuitive GUT gene (i.e. gut instinct) along with proven how-to business guidance in order to accelerate as an entrepreneur running your practice or intrapreneur inside your organization.

This is a wonderful presentation. I always joke that I need a "swear" jar and an "unnecessary apology" jar. They'd both be full. Your specific examples of qualifying language were so valuable. I'm already more aware of the words I use to express myself. I also struggle with feeling rude, and not because of a limiting belief from my past, but from my present. My co-worker is highly aggressive and scrapes everyone raw with her words. Any time I think of being assertive, I have to shake the image of her from my mind. Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving me tools to succeed in presenting my value without being abrasive.

Danielle, your feedback is invaluable for others here, I have often heard these same challenges. Coming from Wall Street, I unfortunately had few female role models as the only women I had access to were not who I wanted to emulate - aggressive and ballsy, not to be confused with gutsy. The fact that you are so aware of the "bull in the china shop" professionals, guarantees that you will not fold into that abrasive perception of you. Set the intention of how you want to be perceived and people will feel that. It's how you show up, then the words will come. Own your authority first. (BEING) Speak without Apology next (DOING) that's how it works. big hug, Marisa p.s are we linked in?
