We want to be able to make an impact in the world - to create a more sustainable and just future for all. Women investing in women is one of the most direct and powerful ways to fuel this paradigm shift.
Alicia Robb, founder of Next Wave, will be hosting a session in Boulder to talk about a new impact fund that will bring together 99 women from across the country into a learning by doing angel fund to make investments into early stage companies. This new fund builds on two pilot funds from last year in the US and Europe that brought together nearly 200 women and made 18 investments.
This fund will invest in triple-bottom line companies (people, planet, prosperity) and will diversify by sector, stage, and geography.Companies that aim to improve our health, expand quality educational opportunities, provide clean energy/tech, or develop new models for sustainable food production, for example, will be considered. Impact does not mean giving up return.
The Next Wave US Impact Fund will be open to our private community and networks for individual investments of between $10,000-$300,000 over the first three years of the fund.
The collaborative investing model continues, which entails nine experienced female angel investors leading the investment committee and providing mentoring to 90 accredited women investors that join as limited partners. The main goals are to provide a transparent, interactive, and educational process, as well as a competitive return, and to prepare the next wave of smart and capable women investing in entrepreneurial companies.
Additional training and offerings include:
- on-line educational materials
- monthly Entrepreneur Discussion sessions
- quarterly live webinars and Q & A sessions
- mentoring by experienced angel investors
- regional and national events
- monthly review sessions and "ask me anything" sessions
Lois Shannon has graciously offered her home for this meeting. RSVP to Alicia directly at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the address and more details, and we'll look forward to seeing you there!
