The Washington, D.C. Chapter of 85 Broads and ReedSmith host an evening of networking, cocktails, and remarks by Kathleen L. Casey, former SEC Commissioner. Ms. Casey, will provide her thoughts on implementation of Dodd Frank, the regulatory outlook for hedge funds and private equity, international regulatory coordination, the potential direction of SEC regulations.
Ms. Casey is a lawyer with almost two decades of experience in senior government leadership and regulatory policy making roles in Washington. In August 2011, she completed a 5 year term as an SEC Commissioner, where she served as the SEC’s principal representative to various international groups, including the G-20 Financial Stability Board and IOSCO. Notably, she also served as the chairman of the technical Committee and co-chair of the CPSS-IOSCO Review of Standards for Financial Market Infrastructure. Prior to being appointed SEC Commissioner, Ms. Casey served as the Staff Director and Counsel of the Senate Banking Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. In that role, Ms. Casey guided the Committee’s work on a broad range of economic, financial and monetary policy issues, including international trade and finance, banking, securities, and insurance regulation, housing policy and AML/CFT. Notable policy issues under her direction at the Committee included: Sarbanes-Oxley implementation, CRA policy, Deposit Insurance Reform, Terrorism Risk Insurance and CFIUS.
