It’s 2017, so why the persistent gender gap in American politics? Women are 53% of registered voters, yet they hold less than 25% of national, state and local legislative seats with a similar outlook for minorities. Even in a progressive city like Los Angeles, only 2 of the 15 city council members is female. On September 21, we explore the current landscape of politics for women and what has to change, now more than ever, for our government to truly represent its constituents with an all-star panel including former NV Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, Los Angeles City Council member Nury Martinez and Kimberly Ellis from Emerge America.
Agenda for the night:
6:00pm: Pomp & Whimsy cocktail hour
7:30pm: Post panel mingle & questions
Parking: We recommend parking across the street in Santa Monica Structure 8.
