Do you believe that government works best when citizens are engaged in their communities? Service on a board or commission is a significant way to participate in municipal, county and state governments. Women can achieve influence and purpose by serving on boards and commissions which oftentimes is progression for other levels of public service.

Gale will speak on the responsibilities associated with serving on a board or commission, why it is important for women to participate on boards and commissions in their communities and the challenges of becoming involved.

If you have thought about serving but need more confidence and networking skills, this seminar will equip you to apply for one of these coveted seats. You will also learn about the renowned North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership Women on Board Program, a one-day workshop that demystifies the process of getting women appointed and serving on Boards (member class of 2007).

Can you think of a moment when you felt powerlessness? This is your opportunity to learn how to increase your level of power and influence through serving on public boards and commissions.
