This year we celebrate 100 years of women's suffrage here in the UK. Yet, as recent revelations from Weinstein to Westminster have proved, the battle for women’s equality is FAR from over.
There is a wealth of research on exactly how and why having women in politics matters. Yet less than a third of Members of Parliament and councilors are women. Why? Is law making a man's job or can we find our voice? And who then is making sure our interests are being looked after?
HAVING WOMEN IN POWER MATTERS.
Join us for a dynamic, non-partisan discussion about civic engagement and why we need to fit it into our busy lives. Vicky Booth of The Parliament Project will demystify the process of getting into politics. We will explore the stages involved in getting elected; joining a party, becoming an activist, through to selection and election and explore how women can best prepare for this role - as well as how we can support our fellow female politicians. Our guest speaker, Lisa Smart, stood as a candidate for Parliament in 2015 and 2017 and will share why she wanted to get involved in politics and what it took to get there.
You can have a say in how your council, city, or country is run. Find out how!
**NO TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.**
**Ticket proceeds will go to support our sponsored charity, Women for Women Intl UK**
