Getting Over the Money Talk Taboo, with Sallie Krawcheck
1 hour
Online • Closed Captioned •

The taboo of women talking about money is holding us back: the belief that it's not ladylike, that it's crass, that it's tacky. On the flip side, these terms are never used when men talk about money, so we're led to believe that it's a "man's topic." But how will women reach financial equality if we keep accepting that societal norm?
And if we're not talking about money, how are we supposed to know what raise to ask for?
Join us for a Jam Session with Sallie Krawcheck on Equal Pay Day Eve to talk about what women can do to claim their financial power. You'll hear why it's not enough to just "explore" our relationship with money, and how knowing and asking for our worth is our crucial part in closing the gender pay gap.

People do not talk about how much they make, except in structured programs like incoming classes of associates from MBA programs into banking or consulting where everyone makes the same amount to start. It’s more than discomfort or shame.....most big companies take an extremely dim view of employees sharing compensation information with one another, right? There are tacit, and sometimes not-so-tacit restrictions/rules about it, in my experience. Given that, how can we really be open on this topic and know if we are being paid fairly or comparably to our peers? Thanks!
