Grameen America, has invested over $820 million in low-income women entrepreneurs. Grameen America Puerto Rico opened in San Juan in December 2013 with the mission to provide low-income women entrepreneurs with microloans, credit-building services, financial education, and peer network support. Since 2013, the branch has disbursed over $9 million to over 2,800 women entrepreneurs in Puerto Rico.
In the wake of worst natural disaster in Puerto Rico, Hurricane Maria, there is a need for rebuilding to help people get back on their feet. Grameen America’s proven solution to provide low-income women with access to capital to help them build or rebuild small businesses, generate income for their families, and bring economic revitalization to the communities in which they live, and work is essential now more than ever.
