Did you know that, on average, online audiences read only 20% of the words you put on a page? Amidst all the scrolling, clicking, and skimming, it’s hard to get your message to readers. This writing workshop will help you understand how your audience reads online so that you can craft emails, newsletters, web copy, and social media posts that grab readers’ attention and get to the point quickly.
We’ll start with the ART of audience awareness: the Audience you’re trying to reach, the Response you hope to get, and the right Tone needed to get it. You’ll learn (1) how to write fewer words, cutting the clutter out of your sentences, captions, and subject lines so that audiences don’t skip your text, and (2) how to get the most out of the words you write. From optimizing content for scannability to micro-storytelling in headlines and captions, you will leave ready to get your point across in fewer words and make every word work, moving your online audience from apathy to action.
This workshop is the first of 4 workshops planned in the 'Writing for Impact' series, which will be scheduled during 2019:
