It costs more to be a woman. About $90,000 more to be exact. Needless to say, this is a huge problem.
This additional cost is called The Pink Tax and it pops up on price tags for the entirety of a woman's lifetime: from baby bottles to toys, from personal care products, clothes, dry cleaning, to canes (yes, actual canes), women are paying more for the products simply because they are marketed to female consumers. On average, women pay 7% extra in price for everyday products and an extra 13% for services compared to men. Gross.
The cash that The Pink Tax pickpockets adds up fast. Women ultimately pay more than men 47% of the time for the same products and services. That adds up to an average of $1,351 a year that won’t go toward investments, education, or passion projects; it’s $1,351 hard-earned dollars that women don’t get a say in spending.
Feeling stirred-up? You should be. Now it's time to stop paying the price for The Pink Tax.
