It seems even in fashion and beauty, the tides are turning. More relevant ways of depicting women, including the questioning of this very category, are being embraced. So why is fragrance marketing still seemingly stuck? How can we change this?
Come join anthropologist, perfumer and founder of Redamance to learn more about the history of perfumery and how she plans to shift the world of fragrance advertising. Also, she will be debuting the perfumes themselves and giving out a free sample to each attendee.
Redamance is a perfume collection where each fragrance is an homage and olfactive portrait of an overlooked woman from history who truly owned her complexities. What would it look like if perfume advertising was not entirely through the male gaze, depicting strictly conventional imaginings of femininity? Redamance aims to disrupt over 100+ years of fragrance advertising and shift the focus to more relevant, intelligent and nuanced ways of invoking feminine strength.
Redamance is derived from the word “redamancy” which means “the act of loving in return.” It is our intent to connect women of the past to women today through the transportive art of perfumery.
Redamance goes beyond the traditional narrative prevalent in fragrance advertising. How can perfume inspire a different way of relating to ones own body? Utilizing the power of scent, we channel inspiring and overlooked women from history who were unapologetically themselves and broke conventions.
