All women are at risk for breast cancer. If you have not had it, you want to stay clear of it, and if you have had it, you never want to get it again.
One of the biggest myths about breast cancer is that we have no control over it, but this is not true. In this Jam session, 85 Broads member Elyn Jacobs will discuss the origins of cancer, and how some foods and lifestyle choices contribute to the development of cancer while others reduce the risk. Our nutritional and physical status either weakens us, making us susceptible to the development of cancer, or strengthens our bodies’ defense mechanisms, enhancing our ability to prevent renegade cells from becoming tumors. In this session Elyn will outline the risk factors and steps to be taken to reduce your risk for cancer. Significant risk reduction is an achievable goal – make it yours.
Elyn Jacobs is a cancer coach. She helps women diagnosed with cancer navigate the process of treatment and care, and she educates in prevention to avoid recurrence and new cancers. Elyn has a special gift; she is a survivor and can share with others what she has been through and what she has learned from it. Elyn’s mother succumbed to breast cancer in 2007, after a long, grueling battle. Elyn was diagnosed just prior to her mother’s death and her sister a year later. Elyn has done extensive research on cancer prevention and has written articles on this topic. No one is more motivated to seek out an anti-cancer regimen than a cancer survivor who wants to remain a survivor. She is passionate about helping others get past their cancer and into cancer-free lives.
