Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

My name is Alessandra Leggio and I am originally from Venezuela, and I have been in the forensic accounting field for over 8 years. I was working for EY for 7 years and started my own Forensic Accounting/Internal Audit Company, Leggio Di Matteo CPA Professional Corporation, just over 1 year ago. I help companies review their risks and controls and work with them to improve their processes to address any gaps. I have led several investigations throughout multiple industries, including mining, retail, entertainment and travel, banking, amongst others.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

I joined Ellevate because I believe that as women, we need to help each other out. Somehow we all ended up finding a place on this site for similar reasons and together we can grow, and with growth there is opportunity for everyone to benefit together. I look forward to meeting strong women with great goals.

How would you define your professional mission?

To build a well-known brand through hard work, high-quality work product and strong client relationships.

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful in your line of work?

Consistent high-quality work, strong client relationships, honesty and integrity.

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

Starting my own business.

We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?

I am here because I see so many strong women that I feel I could learn from and hopefully a few can learn from me as well. I am looking to expand my network and build working relationships.

What is it about your job that makes you feel it’s the right fit for you?

It is truly my passion. I love to understand how processes work and how to improve them. Where investigations and disputes are concerned, I can spend hours searching through the numbers to find the "missing puzzle piece." It just feels right.

What is your morning ritual?

Wake up, give my kids tons of hugs and kisses, make them breakfast, have 2 cups of coffee with my breakfast and workout. Once that is done, I turn on my computer for work.

What does success look like to you?

Success is primarily putting a smile on my kids' faces. Success is also making my clients happy by providing good work and building my business by continuously providing high-quality work - building a brand.

What is one piece of advice you’d offer working moms?

Don't feel bad when you can't be there 100% of the time. Life is about opportunities and opportunity costs. As long as you find the balance that works for you and your family, be confident that you will always be mommy.
