Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

Hi. My name is Annie Scranton and I'm the Founder + President of Pace Public Relations. I am currently focused on growing and building my business by expansion and addition of different service offerings. I am always working on getting our clients featured meaningfully in the media.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

I used to regularly attend the Executive breakfast meetings. I met so many great women, landed new clients and also felt like I got some really smart therapy out of it!

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful in your line of work?

Persistence, connections and a deep understanding of the media.

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

When I basically overnight became a literary agent, signed a book deal for my client with Harper Collins and saw that book reach the NYT Bestseller list and get turned into a Lifetime movie!

What are some career challenges on your radar?

Managing a growing staff and figuring out how to keep growing and expanding without overworking my team.

What project have you worked on that you’re most proud of? Why?

We represent several non-profits. I feel a great sense of pride in helping those who help others get recognized in the media. One of our nonprofits received a $1 MILLION donation after appearing on Bloomberg TV, an interview we set up!

We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?

I was a TV news producer for the first eight years of my career. I got laid off when the show I was on got canceled. A publicist I was friendly with asked if I would be open to freelancing for him, even though I had no experience in PR. It was that moment that changed the entire course of my career.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Helping clients to get the recognition and awareness they deserve. Most do not have an understanding of the media, but once they are featured in the news or on TV, they likely see a big boost to their business. That's very rewarding to help others in this way.

What is it about your job that makes you feel it’s the right fit for you?

It's a great mix of talking to all sorts of people on a daily basis. I love learning about all different subjects. It's a big benefit to my job.

What is your morning ritual?

I (try to) wake up early and have coffee and do all my emails before everyone else in the house wakes up. I watch the news and map out my day. I treasure that hour in the morning.

What is your favorite social media site? Why?

TikTok - oh, it makes me laugh so, so much.
