We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?
Fifteen years in finance taught me about assessing and taking risk, about the resilience it takes to persevere through the good and bad times, and how to work successfully in a male-dominated, high-stakes environment. Fifteen years as an angel investor in women-led technology startups taught me about technology and, more importantly, about the challenges that female founders face starting a new business, in terms of their access to substantive, high quality sources of information, mentors, and capital. Putting those two experiences together provided the inspiration behind BroadMic.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Building a legacy of giving back.
What legacy do you hope to leave through your work?
More female-founded tech startups and female investors.
Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?
I'm a legacy member from 85Broads. As a former Goldman Sachs bond trader, I was among the first to join 85Broads when my former colleague and friend, Janet Hanson, came up with the brilliant idea in 1997. I continued my membership as it transitioned to Ellevate, and have been happy to see it build on its legacy by creating a vibrant community of smart, ambitious professional women who want to share their expertise.
