Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

I'm Lori Beard-Daily. I'm the Chief Now Officer of Working on Your Now. I'm also an author and a speaker. My focus is on working with busy professional women who look like they have it all together on the outside. But, on the inside, they feel disconnected, incredibly stressed, frustrated and off balance. I help women redefine their goals, overcome their stumbling blocks and move forward with confidence so they can do the things they love and that serve them well.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

My favorite Ellevate memory was when I attended one of the monthly breakfasts in Atlanta. I met another member, Kathryn Sabol, as I was leaving to go to my car. Shortly afterward, we met up for coffee and ended up doing a workshop together at Ellevate's May Season Series Events in 2018. We also partnered again for another workshop in July of that same year.

How would you define your professional mission?

To live my life with purpose, love, gratitude and not spend a single moment dwelling on things I have no control over.

We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?

I take great pleasure in coaching and facilitation. I used to do this type of work when I worked in Corporate America. I have always enjoyed helping women become their best selves and used to do it as a hobby outside of work. I had a shift in my career that gave me the push to step out and launch Working on Your Now. Before I decided to launch the platform, I did a focus group with women to make sure that there was a need for the type of services that the platform offers. It turned out that women not only wanted to work on their personal growth, but they also wanted to have guidance in their career, spirituality, finances and health and wellness. So, that gave me the affirmation that I needed to include these other focus areas for women to have a place to go. That's how Working on Your Now came to be my new career path that was launched five years ago.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is when I see a client become more confident in making decisions about what they really want out of life and finally being able to move forward with a plan. I love to see my clients transition from being excuse-makers to decision-makers.

What is it about your job that makes you feel it’s the right fit for you?

I know it's the right fit for me because every day I wake up excited about what I'm going to do next. I also know that the impact that I make with helping women to work on their now is very positive and productive from the feedback that I've received. Every time a woman makes progress toward her personal goal and steps out of her comfort zone into her progression zone confirms that it's my right fit.

What is your morning ritual?

My morning starts at 5:30 a.m. My rituals consist of praying with my husband, meditating and going to work out at the gym for 30-45 minutes. Afterward, I come back and eat a healthy breakfast, take a shower, get dressed and then start my workday by 830 a.m.!

What would you say your personal superpower is?

My personal superpower is living my life the same way that I teach my clients to live theirs. And, that is that I stand in my value. I value understanding my worth and what I bring to the table. Often times, women undervalue themselves because of a lack of confidence or getting caught up into listening to what other people say they can't do vs. what they can do. Because I believe in myself, I'm confident in my capabilities and I'm not embarrassed or shy about them. That's my superpower.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

The best career advice that I have ever received is that it's never too late to make a career change, and don't allow money to keep you at a job where you are not thriving or happy. Your mental well- being is more important than your bank account. Because if you lose your mind, you won't have a job anyway. So get a career where you are happy and can still pay your bills at the same time!

What is one piece of advice you’d offer working moms?

Keep family first. I'm a mother of three and when my kids were growing up they were always my priority. When I worked in corporate, I never put myself in a work environment that did not allow me ( or made it difficult ) for me to tend to my children when they were sick or needed me to attend one of their activities. In turn, I always did excellent work while I was on the job so that when I did need to leave, there was never any uncertainty about my performance. Children grow up fast. It's important to spend quality time with them. Arrange your schedule (without feeling guilty) so that it is doable for your work-life because you will never get that time back once they grow up.
