Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

I'm a polymath with interest and background in strategy, technology product management and startups. I recently moved to Chicago and am a senior manager in Techonology Consulting practice. I'm currently focused on working with startups and getting involved in the angel/startup community in Chicago.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

I am a new Ellevate member and look forward to forming many wonderful friendships. The older I get, I realize how important my relationships with other women have been to me. I look forward to learning from great women and helping others. We are all in it together, still fighting our way up to grab our share in corporate America and we can't do it without each other.

How would you define your professional mission?

My professional mission is all about technology and using it to make meaningful impact for companies and people.

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful in your line of work?

There are a small number of women in technology. It takes grit, logical and analytical skills and the ability to speak two languages - business and technology.

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

I was selected as a Kauffman Finalist, which is a prestigious venture capital recognition.

What are some career challenges on your radar?

I'd like to start my own angel investing or venture capital firm, focused on technology in the next 5 years. In the near term, my goal is to become a managing director at my consulting firm within the next 3 years.

What project have you worked on that you’re most proud of? Why?

Still brainstorming and working on it.. If I can pull it off, it can help many people.

We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?

Knowing that I like being in the front, communicating and with people, not just coding.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Solving difficult problems and the ability to use people, communication, technical skills everyday.

What is it about your job that makes you feel it’s the right fit for you?

Entrepreneurship and freedom to make an impact.

Sheryl Sandberg, Indira Gandhi

What is your morning ritual?

Always start with 10 minutes of silence and breakfast. I don't check email until I get to work.

What is your favorite social media site? Why?

Reddit. There is some good advice there, amongst some of the craziness.

What would you say your personal superpower is?

Optimism and never say die spirit

What does success look like to you?

Making a meaningful impact in technology and becoming an expert in my field.

Is work-life balance a problem for you? What is one no-fail tactic you use to create balance?

Accepting the reality that I can't do it all and deciding what my needs are at that point in life.

What advice would you offer future leading ladies wishing to break into your industry?

It's a growing field and full of opportunities. I think it's getting easier for women to build a career in tech. It is exceedingly rewarding in every way.

What is the best career advice you ever received?

You need to temper honesty with discretion. As a woman, criticism or honest opinions can be difficult for others to take and this advice has definitely helped me often.

What is one piece of advice you’d offer working moms?

I am not a mom, so can speak from only my experience. Being a single woman can also have challenges, just as a working moms face their own unique challenges. So, if you have any single women at work, please remember that.
