Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.
Hello! My name is Ashley Lynn Priore. I'm a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in English and Business with a minor in Political Science. I work to bring communities together and create unity through common interests. While chess is one of my ways of making a change, I believe having a network in which we can reach out to each other is vital to success. I plan to continue to build my organizations to facilitate positive impacts in the community and aid others through positive leadership and community-based outreach. As a young female entrepreneur, I’m a catalyst who inspires experience and leadership. I shadow various leaders and jobs in the Pittsburgh area to learn more about diverse fields and to build relationships to make the community a better place. In 2014, I founded a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching chess to the community, ensuring every child has the necessary opportunities and tools to learn chess. I oversee all operations including marketing and communications, hiring and leading staff, funding and donor relations, fostering community relations, and teaching chess in over fifty locations. We promote, share, and encourage the educational and social benefits of chess. In partnership with Pittsburgh City Government, Pittsburgh Public Schools, and other organizations, we use chess as an economic, political, and social changemaker. We host events and direct chess programming around the city. We received a Proclamation for Chess Week by Pittsburgh City Government and Allegheny County. This is an innovative 501(c)(3), using chess to impact Pittsburgh economically and making it sustainable for years to come.
Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?
I joined Ellevate because it is a network of women not just supporting other women but providing valuable opportunities to become better connected. My favorite member of Ellevate was when I had coffee with my chapter leaders and then we went to a yoga event sponsored by Ellevate. It was such a rewarding experience because I got to know the chapter leaders in an informal setting. We got to know each other as people which is so vital to community building and success.

The most rewarding part of my work is the community connections I make on a daily basis. I finish my work at the end of the day knowing that I impacted someone's day and that is an amazing experience.
