Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.
I am an operations-minded thought-partner with a flair for innovation and creative problem solving. I have a proven track record of leading high-functioning teams, improving efficiencies and initiating cost-saving strategies to promote company growth through collaboration and developing systems across multi-functional organizations. Over the years, I’ve become known as a builder, having developed departmental infrastructure, goals and objectives as well as, fiscal budget strategies. The biggest motivating factor for me is the drive to constantly do better and to keep improving – whether it’s my own personal development or the growth of my teams. My current passion includes an initiative I launched at work creating small groups to improve employee morale, improve communication and to promote volunteerism; above all else the initiative is geared towards professional and personal development for women who make up the majority of our workforce.
Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?
My word for 2018 was focus. I spend a lot of time during the later part of 2017 focusing on want I really wanted out of my career. Joining Ellevate aligned perfectly, because one of my goals was to get out and network. by focusing I determined that what I really wanted was not just networking but an opportunity to meet other women, to learn from them and to develop lasting relationships. So I joined the 2018 Spring Squad and loved it! I met really great women who were honest in their goals and shared so much during their hot seats, giving great feedback. My Squad Mod and I continue to communicate regularly. I've also reached out to several Ellevate members who were gracious and generous with their time agreeing to informational interviews. I have been nothing but pleased with my experience.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is helping people align their skills and passions with their role. I am passionate about helping people realize their potential and operating in the space where they are the very best version of themselves.
What legacy do you hope to leave through your work?
My greatest legacy will not only be the work that I do, the results that I achieve, the things that I'll build but most importantly, the people I support and the role I play in their successes.
What is it about your job that makes you feel it’s the right fit for you?
My current role provides me with opportunities to operate in my genius zone. I am constantly strategizing, creating, and building. Whether it's processes, infrastructure , or people I have a seat at the table I am an influence for change.
What is your favorite social media site? Why?
It took me a really long time to join social media. Why? Because when I do something I do it 100% and I knew that I didn't have the bandwidth to take on another thing. So I started with Pinterest which continues to be a favorite. Pinterest is perfect for me, I get to design projects, build vision boards, plan events, all from my phone. It's perfect for me!
What would you say your personal superpower is?
My personal superpower is my ability to take really complex issues or problems and break them down quickly get to a resolution.
Is work-life balance a problem for you? What is one no-fail tactic you use to create balance?
Work-life balance is not a problem for me but it is something I work at all the time. I think to achieve work-life harmony you have to keep evaluating your options and treat your time as a precious resource; choosing the activities that give you joy, add value or support your goals.
What is the best career advice you ever received?
You need to be attractive. When there's a group of people you need to tap into your superpower, your genius zone, your niche and make sure that it's turned up 100% so that your next Boss, Sponsor, Mentor, or Connector sees you!
What is one piece of advice you’d offer working moms?
Build a great support system of allies. Don't be afraid to ask for help. No one does it right all the time.
