After 20 years of multi channel marketing experience with Big Brands and Big Companies, I went small. At first it was a way to kill the commute and work close to home so I could balance the work-mommy seesaw. But soon it became clear that my Big Brand Building experiences could make a significant and measurable difference- not just against company goals but for me: once I tasted double digit revenue growth from marketing - hard to do with a global brand- I thought: I can do this for other companies! It wasn’t just the digital skills I’d onboarded over time, it was the strategic discipline I’d learned from those Big Brands that was the foundation. Who knew? Now, I run a marketing consultancy that combines strategy, planning, and implementation with a rock-star team of women who work remotely and are relentlessly dedicated to service. It’s been 7 years of tears and fears, but we’ve done it and we’re poised for what’s next. Today we are in sharp biz dev mode so we can expand from our concentration in b2b healthcare to make use of our broad expertise in CPG, subscription brands, and b2b offerings in other sectors. We’re looking to connect with wise women with whom we can build a mutual-referral-stream once we get to know and trust each other.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

I’m disappointed to be missing the 7/21 NYC Ellevate event, which should have been my first. I’ll be in Nashville getting certified in the Storybrand methodology for conversion marketing (a skill we possess but for which a more formal structure will help us move faster.)

How would you define your professional mission?

To build an expanded team of rock star women who can leverage Big Brand experience to mid-market companies ambitious and hungry for growth.

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful in your line of work?

Relentless dedication to their own growth, and understand how that is tied to measurable success.

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

Gaining the trust of a mid market company CEO, having him trust our approach, and yielding 100% revenue growth in three years. Nothing feels that good!

What are some career challenges on your radar?

Pipeline. As women we may be accustomed to being available 24/7 - mommy-style- and neglecting our own expansion mission.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Inspiring my amazing team of ambitious women - most are moms- to create a fulfilling lifestyle in work and their personal lives.

What legacy do you hope to leave through your work?

I want to build White Space Marketing Group so my core team can take it forward when I’m done.

What would you say your personal superpower is?

I’m the great synthesizer. Seeing a roadmap from 30,000 feet and envisioning the steps to get there.

What does success look like to you?

A client list of 10 companies who trust us to help bring them the growth they need- at the intersection of strategy and implementation.

Is work-life balance a problem for you? What is one no-fail tactic you use to create balance?

I’m now an empty nester with two daughters about to launch into the post-college phase of their own lives. So- no more field hockey games or nightly family dinners. But having loved it, I have to manage the difference between my flexibility and my team’s need for balance. I take the weekend and evening “bat-phone” responsibilities.

What advice would you offer future leading ladies wishing to break into your industry?

Don’t get seduced by the one big client who loves you to the moon and back, fuels your revenue growth, and makes you feel like you’re really inside their company. One day they may get sold, go public, go private, go under...you need pipeline!

What is the best career advice you ever received?

When the you-know-what hits the fan, learn from the mistakes, but don’t take it personally. You can’t control everything but you can be prepared.
