Introduce yourself to our audience. Tell us who you are and what you are currently focused on.

My name is Rebecca Ahmed and I am a strategic coach and Co-Founder of Turn It On! Through coaching engagements, speaking opportunities and trainings, I act as an educator, mentor, and strategist to ensure my clientele are truly embracing their potential and continuing to hone their own definition of success. In addition to Turn It On, I am a Corporate Managing Director at Savills, a worldwide commercial real estate organization specializing in integrated solutions, workplace strategies and transaction management.

Tell us about your favorite Ellevate Network memory or success story. Why are you a member?

My favorite Ellevate Network memories have been connecting with amazing powerhouse women, learning their stories and celebrating their life choices. I've enjoyed everything from watching Tanjina & her studio's belly dance extravaganza, to playing dress up in Robin's boutique, to enjoying a cocktail with Nikia at a speakeasy in Eastern Market!

How would you define your professional mission?

We all have the ability to take charge of our destinies and live purposeful, fulfilling lives. However, challenges — both external and self-imposed — can prevent us from taking advantage of the opportunities we are given and achieving our own definition of success. This is where I come in! I help women unlock their desires, potential, and passion so they can truly live a life turned on. I work with driven, caring souls who desire to live on fire in all areas of their lives. My belief is that living passionately, freely, fully engaged, and on fire is the ultimate goal.

What qualities does it take for someone to be successful in your line of work?

Hard Work. Community. Confidence. Continuous Learning. Curiosity. Empathy. Understanding that being committed is not the same as being attached. No just means no. Some people make no to mean soooooo much more!

What is one of your most memorable career accomplishments?

I was strategically recruited to Allegiant Air from hospitality, as they wanted to shift their corporate culture to a more hospitable culture for their customers. In one year, my team and I revamped our entire talent acquisition process to focus on hospitality, We were awarded top 10 companies to interview with in 2016 by Glassdoor!

We’d love to hear more about your career path. What led you to where you are today?

Oh this is a good one! I come from a background in HR and have overseen HR in Hospitality and Travel with The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Allegiant Air and Pinnacle Gaming, to name a few. In 2018 I was on the leadership team of Pinnacle Gaming assisting with the M&A to Penn & Boyd Gaming. The acquisition closed in October 2018 and I took my severance package and purchased 2.5 acres overlooking the ocean in Costa Rica! I completed The Landmark Forum and chose to move to DC and start all over, creating the possibility of empowering women, which led to the creation of Turn It On and the possibility of being a broker in commercial real estate, which has led to my role as a Corporate Managing Director with Savills, an international real estate firm. I am learning every day and believe every day I stretch myself is a success. When you re-define failure, asking someone for business and getting a "no" is not a failure. Offering your services and speaking out and pushing yourself when you're not comfortable is a success. Every day I accomplish at least one success!

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I absolutely love lighting up a crowd! Watching women light up while I engage in speaking events, groups workshops or 1:1 coaching is unbelievably rewarding! I feed off their energy and I can see they feed off of my words and energy and feel empowered to take action where they want to move forward in their lives. Let me tell you -- it's damn sexy!

What would you say your personal superpower is?

My superpower is my ability to analyze a situation and provide an efficient solution using my resources, tools and community. I am a natural problem solver and connector. And lastly, I just have a sh*t ton of energy!

Is work-life balance a problem for you? What is one no-fail tactic you use to create balance?

I truly believe in living a balanced life and a life of pleasure. To ensure I am balanced, I work out every day, I meditate every day (even if only for 5 minutes, it's still centering) and ensure I receive pleasure in everything that I do. This means enjoyment in everything from work, to workouts, to dates, to dance night out with the girls, to family time, to travels, to R&R.

What advice would you offer future leading ladies wishing to break into your industry?

Please come and join CRE! (Commercial Real Estate) There are so few women! Organizations want to ensure their diversity initiatives are being met by all their vendors, including CRE. Would love for women to take the chance and jump into this fabulous industry where you get to make your mark and build your personal brand. I can't speak to other CRE organizations, but Savills has been absolutely amazing since the minute I joined! They have welcomed me with welcome arms and value the diversity of thought I bring to the organization.
